Tennessee Vols quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle met with reporters in Miami on Wednesday ahead of UT's matchup with the Clemson Tigers in the Orange Bowl.
Halzle was asked about Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava, the five-star recruit who just arrived at UT earlier this month.
Unsurprisingly, Halzle had plenty of great things to say about Iamaleava (that's been a theme over the last week).
Specifically, Halzle pointed out Iamaleava's attitude and how he's willing to do whatever is asked of him, despite his standing as a highly touted five-star recruit.
"He's obviously a really high-end talent," said Halzle when asked about Nico. "But he's also a great kid. Like, he's been running scout stuff and all our scout coaches are talking about what a great guy he is and how he doesn't feel like he's too big to do that type of stuff."
"Really talented young man that's a really, really good young man, too, for lack of a better word. [He's] been a great addition here."
I've never been a five-star recruit, but I imagine it has to be an odd feeling to go from the top of your sport in high school to running the scout team in college. But Nico is clearly handling it well, which is all you can ask from him at this point.
There are plenty of questions about how Nico will fare in college. Will he deliver on the hype and live up to expectations?
One thing that can't be questioned, however, is Nico's character. Every single person at Tennessee that's talked about Iamaleava over the last couple of weeks has done nothing but speak about his humility and the way he treats others. The Vols got a great one in Nico — both on and off the field.
