Tennessee Vols senior center Cooper Mays didn't play in UT's 49-13 win against the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.

Mays is still out after undergoing a procedure early in fall camp.

While Mays didn't play against the Cavaliers, he still on the sidelines at Nissan Stadium.

And he liked what he saw from Tennessee's defensive front seven while watching them up close against Virginia.

"In my opinion, our guys are going to be one of the best defensive lines, defensive front sevens in all of college football," said Mays during an appearance on Off The Hook Sports on Sunday. "Definitely one of the premier defensive lines and front sevens in the SEC. No doubt in my mind."

"Just the style in which they play is just so annoying to play," added Mays. "It just messes everything [up]. You can't have [any] flow. They play so vertical….our defensive line, all they worry about is playing on the other [side of the] line of scrimmage."

Tennessee finished the game with four sacks and 11 tackles for loss — a dominant performance that set the tone for the afternoon.

If the Vols are going to reach their goal of winning the SEC East, they'll need their defensive front to play at an elite level. They showed on Saturday against Virginia that they're capable of playing at that level. Now they just have to sustain it all season.
