The Tennessee Vols are set to take on the Clemson Tigers in the Orange Bowl on December 30.
On Sunday afternoon, Dabo Swinney spoke with reporters on a conference call and he handed Tennessee the biggest compliment that a team can receive.
Swinney said during the media opportunity that Tennessee might be the team in the nation.
Dabo caught some heat a couple of weeks ago for saying that Tennessee was "flipping burgers" and forgot they had to show up and play against South Carolina. His comments were viewed as a slight against the Vols, but he explained before the ACC Championship game that he actually meant the comments as a compliment.
Some fans/media were confused as to how Dabo meant the comments as a compliment.
Swinney made sure there was no question about he feels about the Vols after Sunday's presser. Calling Tennessee maybe the best in the country leaves no doubt that Swinney has respect for the Volunteers. Or maybe he's making sure he avoids giving Tennessee some bulletin board material.
Either way, Dabo managed to not light a fire with his most recent comments about the Vols. But there will be plenty of opportunities in the coming weeks for Dabo to take a shot at Tennessee. And it won't be a surprise if he does.
