A former Alabama star had a pretty strong take this week on the Tennesee Vols and what he expects from UT the rest of the season.
Former Crimson Tide safety Roman Harper, a two-time NFL Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl champion, said on the SEC Network this past week that he thinks Tennessee will end up winning 11 games this season.
Here's a clip of his comments:
"You (Tennessee) are going to win 11, I'm calling my shot," said Harper.
If the Vols go 11-1 in the regular season, it will mean that Tennessee beats either Alabama or Georgia. If that win ends up being against Georgia, it'll mean the Vols will be heading to Atlanta in December for the first time since 2007.
11 wins — unless the 11th win is in a bowl game — seems like a stretch. But Tennessee is playing well. And they've won a couple of tough games on their schedule already. For now, winning 11 regular season games is still possible. But the road to 11 wins won't be easy. Even games against LSU, Kentucky, and Missouri could be challenging.
This Tennessee team, though, feels different. So who knows, maybe it happens. The fact that there are ex-Alabama players believing that UT is "back" says a lot. The Vols, however, still have a lot to prove. This weekend in Baton Rouge will be their next chance to prove that the hype is deserved.
