Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs could finally be getting his chance to start in the NFL.
Dobbs hasn't seen action in a regular season NFL game since 2020. And he's never had a start in the NFL. But that could be changing on Thursday night.
The former Vols quarterback was signed earlier this month by the Tennessee Titans due to Ryan Tannehill's ankle injury. After watching rookie Malik Willis struggle last week against the Houston Texans, it sounds like the Titans might be starting Dobbs against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night.
A to Z Sports' Buck Reising mentioned on "The Buck Reising Show" on 104.5 The Zone on Thursday that he thinks there's a "real chance" Dobbs starts against Dallas.
"I keep getting some interesting texts about the Titans' quarterback situation," said Reising.
"I'm starting to get the vibe that it may not be the Malik Willis show and I don't know how people are going to react to that. I think there's a very, very real chance at this point that Josh Dobbs could start."
"There is a weird vibe going on around that (Titans) facility right now," added Reising.
"The Vibes right now make me think that there's a real chance it's not Malik Willis starting tonight."
This would certainly be an interesting decision by the Titans since Willis needs to play for the franchise to truly see what they have. Perhaps they just want to see if Dobbs has more upside than they realize. Either way, it sounds like there's a good chance Dobbs finally gets his starting chance on Thursday night.
Update:
It looks like it will indeed be the Dobbs show.
