A former Tennessee Vols standout is getting another chance in the NFL.

Former Vols cornerback Bryce Thompson just wrapped up his season in the XFL with the Seattle Seadragons.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Thompson signed with the Miami Dolphins this week.

Thompson, who went undrafted in 2021, previously played for the New Orleans Saints for two seasons.

The former Vols standout originally signed with Tennessee as part of Jeremy Pruitt's first recruiting class at UT in 2018.

Thompson was a key player for the Vols, starting 28 games for Tennessee during his three seasons on Rocky Top.

If Thompson makes the Dolphins' roster, he could have a chance to go against a very familiar face in Week 5 of the 2023 season when Miami takes on the New York Giants.

Thompson was teammates with Giants rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt at Tennessee in 2020. The two players also attended the same high school (Dutch Fork) in South Carolina. Thompson was two years ahead of Hyatt.

The NFL is starting to become heavily populated with former Tennessee players. That number should only increase in the coming years with Josh Heupel and his staff showing they can consistently help players get to the NFL.
