Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson landed with a new NFL team on Tuesday just hours after the NFL approved a new kickoff rule that will take effect in 2024.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Patterson, a former first round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, is expected to sign a two year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth $6 million.
Patterson, who spent one season at Tennessee, spent the last three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after transitioning to a hybrid running back/wide receiver role.
The NFL passed a new rule on Tuesday that's expected to make kickoffs safer and more exciting.
Here's how the new kickoffs will look.
Patterson has returned nine career kickoffs for a touchdown, which is an NFL record.
The former Vol is entering his 12th season in the NFL. He's spent time with the Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, and the Falcons.
Patterson is a four-time Pro Bowler and he was named to the NFL 2010s all-decade team.
Peyton Manning might avoid what would’ve been a tough situation as a former Vol
