When former Tennessee Vols edge rusher Byron Young takes the field for the Los Angeles Rams in Week One of the regular season, he'll make franchise history.

Young, thanks to a new NFL rule, will be the first Rams player to ever wear No. 0

Steve Bagarus previously wore No. 00 with the Rams in 1947.

The No. 0 will be allowed to utilized by players in 2023 for the first time since the 1973 season.

Young, who was No. 6 at Tennessee, explained to ESPN this week that he chose to wear 0 because he felt like he was given a 0 percent chance to make it to the NFL.

"Where I came from and my journey, [it] was like basically a 0 percent chance for you to make it to this level," said Young (via ESPN).

"I fought through it and now I'm here, so I don't want to forget that part," added Young.

The former Vols standout was famously an assistant manager at a Dollar General before attending a tryout at Georgia Military College. That tryout eventually led Young to Tennessee, where he developed into a feared pass rusher that was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Young is poised to play a big role in the Rams' defense this fall thanks to Los Angeles' youth along the defensives line.
