Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Marquez Callaway received some unfortunate news earlier this week when he was released by the Denver Broncos.

Callaway's release was a bit of a surprise as he signed with the Broncos earlier this offseason to reunite with head coach Sean Payton (Callaway had his most NFL success while previously playing for Payton with the New Orleans Saints).

The former Vol, however, wasn't out of work long. According to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver's AFC West division rival, signed Callaway to their practice squad on Wednesday.

Callaway will reunite with a former Tennessee teammate in Las Vegas.

Defensive lineman Matthew Butler, who was teammates with Callaway for three seasons at UT, was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Butler was released by Las Vegas earlier this week, but he was quickly re-signed to the Las Vegas practice squad (which means he and Callaway should be spending plenty of time together).

Callaway was originally an undrafted free agent who signed with the Saints in 2020.
