A former Tennessee Vols standout landed in the top half of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft in the latest mock draft from CBS Sports.

Ryan Wilson, an NFL writer for CBS Sports, has Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright going to the New England Patriots with the No. 14 overall selection.

From CBS Sports:

The Patriots have needs at wide receiver, but instead look first to bolster the offensive line. Wright had Day 3 grades coming into the 2022 season and was dominant for the Vols, and he capped that off with a strong Senior Bowl week. Don't be surprised if he makes his way into Round 1.

For a while, Wright, who is best suited to play right tackle in the NFL, was one of the most underrated players in the nation. But it appears the secret is out — Wright is a stud and the draft community is finally coming around on the former Tennessee standout.

If Wright is drafted as high as Wilson predicts, he'll be the highest drafted Vol since 2017 when defensive end Derek Barnett was selected with the No. 14 overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles.
