One of the final pre-Super Bowl 2023 NFL mock drafts has the Tennessee Titans landing a former Tennessee Vols standout in the third round.
Pro Football Network revealed a new mock draft on Sunday and they have the Titans selecting Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman in the third round (No. 72 overall).
If the Titans want to truly evaluate Malik Willis, they need to give him some weapons. Cedric Tillman has the size, ball skills, and body control to complement Treylon Burks outside.
This would be a major steal for the Titans in the third round.
In fact, I'd be shocked if Tillman falls past the second round.
Analysts seem to forget that Tillman was the focal point of the Vols' offense entering the 2022 season.
The Las Vegas native was the SEC's leading returning wide receiver ahead of the 2022 season, but he suffered an ankle injury against Akron in the third game of the season which impacted him for the rest of the year.
Tillman missed multiple games before returning for Tennessee's blowout win against Kentucky.
If Tillman runs in the 4.4 range at the NFL draft combine, he'll likely solidify himself as at least a second-round pick. His elite body control combined with his ability to stretch the field (regardless of his 40-yard dash time, he has great "game speed"), makes Tillman an ideal fit for the Titans' offense.
I'm not saying Tillman is going to be AJ Brown if the Titans draft him, but he has that type of upside. And if the Titans could get him in the third round — which again, I doubt happens — it would be a massive coup for new Tennessee general manager Ran Carthon.
