Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt is heading to The Big Apple after getting selected by the New York Giants with the No. 73 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hyatt, who was viewed as a potential first-round pick, surprisingly lasted until the third round of the draft.

That was mostly due to concerns about Hyatt's size and the offense he played in at Tennessee.

Hyatt won't let slipping to the third round hurt his confidence. In fact, the South Carolina native showed some of that confidence on Friday night while speaking with the New York media.

The former Vols standout told reporters that he feels like he's probably the best deep threat in this year's draft class.

“I feel like I’m probably the best deep-threat receiver in the draft,” said Hyatt (via SNY). “I really do believe that, and Giants they really got a playmaker, they got a dynamic playmaker, an explosive playmaker. And that's what I want to bring and add to the team.”

Hyatt also made it clear that he's ready to get to work with Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

"That's one of the first [people] I'm going to meet with to understand what he does, what he likes in games, what his best throws, what he wants me to do for him," said Hyatt. "I think when you build that connection with a quarterback, you can go as far as you want to go."

“I'm going to be consistent, I'm going to be consistent in the facility and meeting with him and doing what he wants me to do for him, because I'm here to help him out," added Hyatt. "That’s why I can't wait to do it.”

Hyatt famously stayed after practice to put in extra work the week after his massive game against Alabama last season (six receptions, 207 yards, and five touchdowns). There's no doubt that he has the work ethic to thrive in the NFL.
