When the Tennessee Vols host Texas A&M on October 14 in Knoxville, the Aggies won't have sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman under center.
On3 reported on Wednesday that Weigman will miss the rest of the season due to a leg injury.
Weigman suffered the injury in Texas A&M's win against Auburn last week.
The Texas native had completed nearly 70 percent of his passes this season while throwing for 979 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions.
Weigman had also rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
With Weigman out for the rest of the season, the offense will likely be handed over to redshirt sophomore Max Johnson.
Johnson, the son of former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson, is a former four-star recruit who originally signed with LSU before transferring to Texas A&M.
The former Tigers quarterback has seen plenty of action as a college player, dating back to his true freshman season at LSU.
Johnson passed for 435 yards and three touchdowns against Ole Miss in 2020. He was also LSU's starter in 2021 and he passed for 2,815 yards, 27 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
While it's not ideal to lose Weigman for he season, it's not like the cupboard is bare for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies. Johnson will be a fine replacement at quarterback for Texas A&M as he's more than capable of having success in the SEC.
