The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to be without a key defensive player on Saturday against the Tennessee Vols.

Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart wouldn't confirm it on Monday, but he acknowledged that it's not looking good for Georgia linebacker Nolan Smith this weekend.

Not having Smith would be a major blow to the Georgia defense (even though they have a lot of quality depth).

Smith, the No. 1 overall recruit during the 2019 recruiting cycle, leads Georgia in tackles for loss (7) and sacks (3) this season. While the Bulldogs have plenty of depth, they don't have another edge rusher that impacts the game quite like Smith.

We'll keep an eye on his status throughout the week, but for now it appears that he won't be taking the field against the Vols.

Georgia could also be without offensive tackle Amarius Mims, who is dealing with a "slight MCL injury".

Smart is hopeful, however, that Mims will play against the Vols.

Georgia has so much talent that missing a couple of guys isn't as big of a deal for them as it would be for other programs. But these are still two key players that the Bulldogs will miss if they don't play.
