How a Tennessee Titans Pro-Bowler is quietly making franchise history

Tennessee Titans fans already know just how good Harold Landry is. The Pro-Bowl linebacker’s resume speaks for itself and both his stats and his contract are reflections of his ability.
The 26-year old pass rusher made his first career Pro bowl appearance in 2021 after leading a strong defensive unit in Tennessee in sacks with 12, tackles for loss with 14, and QB hits with 22 on the season.
He then agreed to a 5-year and $87.5 million deal with the Titans in March that will keep him in Nashville through the 2026 season.
I’m not here to tell you that Harold Landry is good at football. Anybody with two-eyes and NFL Game Pass knows that.I’m just here to direct eyes at a few historic numbers that point to a surprising and notable pace Landry is on.
At 26 years old and just four years into his NFL career, Harold Landry’s production in the Titans defense is already landing him on lists with some Titans greats.
Landry has racked up his a whopping 66 quarterback hits in just 64 games and 52 starts. The franchise’s all-time leader, Jurrell Casey, had 115 in 139 games played for the Titans.
In 2021, Landry took a massive step forward, recording 22 of them in a breakout season. That was good for 14th in the NFL, and there's a good chance he’s going to get even better.
If Landry continues performing at his current level for the duration of his contract, he’s on pace to record 176 quarterback hits, which would shatter the record. It would also give him 90 career sacks and place him second all-time on the franchise sack leaderboard behind only Elvin Bethea (105).
That’s IF he continues at his current pace…and he may not have even peaked yet.
Longevity is always a driving factor behind some of these “all-time” stat leaders, but the current numbers don’t lie. Landry feels like he could wind up leaving his mark as one of the best Titans in history if he keeps it going in the right direction.
Not bad for someone who was left off of Pete Prisco’s NFL Top 100 Players list…
(I mean, seriously…Arik Armstead had exactly HALF as many sacks (6), QB hits (11), and TFL’s (7) as Landry, and he made the list at number 80 because his jersey isn’t two-tone blue.)
But that’s all beside the point. What I really want to hammer home is that Harold Landry has quietly performed at a historic rate for a Titans defender to begin his career.
It’s scary to think about how much more he could be capable of if he continues to develop and gain NFL experience. So, yes, you should be excited about five more years of Harold Landry sacks.
Titans fans may be witnessing history and not even realizing it.
