Tennessee basketball is currently 17-3 and ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 poll. But beyond records and rankings, the statistical metrics for the 2023 Vol b-ball squad are eye-popping. According to KenPom.com, Rick Barnes' team has the best defensive efficiency in the entire 20+ years of KenPom's ratings. They are holding opponents to 34% shooting overall and 22% shooting from three. It's staggering, to say the least. But this begs the question: Is this Rick Barnes' best squad ever at Tennessee? Could they actually be better than the teams that were helmed by Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield?
