Jalin Hyatt's 2022 season is one that Tennessee Vols fans will never forget.
Hyatt set a new record for receiving touchdowns by a Tennessee wide receiver with 15. A third of those receiving touchdowns came in a memorable win against Alabama that featured Hyatt catching six passes for 207 yards and five touchdowns.
The South Carolina native, who left Tennessee after his junior season, was selected by the New York Giants with the No. 73 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Ahead of the draft, Hyatt appeared on ESPN's "Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL" and he shared some thoughts about playing in Neyland Stadium.
"I feel like we definitely have the greatest fan base in college football," said Hyatt. "[Neyland is] definitely one of the iconic SEC spots you can play in and be a part of. I'll always miss this place for sure."
Hyatt then noted that he always preferred to score in the south end zone because he liked scoring in front of the student section.
"They used to go crazy for sure," said Hyatt about Tennessee's student section.
The former Vols star also pointed out that he hopes someone at Tennessee breaks his record for receiving touchdowns in a season, but maybe not in 2023. Hyatt wants to keep his record for a little while.
"My young guys that play there now, I wish them the best," said Hyatt. "But hopefully I'll keep my record for a little minute. But I do want them to break it though."
Hyatt, who said his favorite moment at UT was probably his fourth touchdown against Alabama, will go down as one of the greats at Tennessee. And his incredible 2022 season — specifically his insane month of October — was priceless for the Vols when it comes to recruiting wide receivers. There's no doubt that Hyatt made an impact on Tennessee that will be felt for a long time.
