If you're the starting quarterback of the Tennessee Vols, there's a good chance you've been in contact with UT legend Peyton Manning.

Manning, perhaps the most popular former Vol of all time, spends a significant amount of time around the program — especially since his retirement after the 2015 NFL season.

Through good times and bad, Manning has routinely been seen at Tennessee football games, practices, other UT athletic events, etc.

Manning, unsurprisingly, takes special interest in Tennessee's starting quarterback. Peyton famously developed a close relationship with Hendon Hooker last season. And it appears he's now doing the same with Joe Milton, the Vols' expected starter in 2023.

Milton, who took part in the annual Manning Passing Academy last month, was recently asked by the Locked on SEC podcast about his relationship with Peyton and the rest of the Manning family.

"It's great," said Milton when asked about his relationship with the Mannings. "You know, they come back to the games. Seeing Marshall (Peyton's 12 year old son), just throw the ball today — I was working with him a couple of times and chasing him around. So it's great, man….good connection with the Manning family and they come back and they support and you got that relationship forever."

"You know, he (Peyton) has a more deeper mindset than me, because he's been around NFL guys, so he understands a little bit more," added Milton. "But other than that, just knowing what he knows — I try to know everything a quarterback knows, just because I'm a perfectionist. That's what that's what I aim for and that's what I want to do."

Milton is clearly a confident player, but he's wise to soak in what Peyton has to say. After all, quarterbacks are always learning. And I'm not sure there's anyone better to learn from than Peyton, one of the best to ever do it.
