Josh Dobbs' bizarre week could result in the former Vol starting at QB in Week One of the 2023 NFL season

Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs has had an incredibly interesting last few days.
Last Thursday, Dobbs was named the Cleveland Browns' No. 2 quarterback by head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Just a few hours after Stefanski's comments, the Browns traded Dobbs and a 2024 seventh-round draft pick to the Arizona Cardinals for a 2024 fifth-round draft pick.
Dobbs' wild week doesn't end there.
After not starting an NFL game during the first six seasons of his career (until late last season), Dobbs could be in line to start his third straight regular season NFL game on September 10 (Dobbs started at quarterback for the Tennessee Titans in the final two games of the 2022 season…his first career NFL starts).
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Arizona released quarterback Colt McCoy, opening the door for Dobbs to start in place of injured quarterback Kyler Murray.
Schefter suggested that Dobbs is the favorite to start the season-opener for the Cardinals (rookie quarterback Clayton Tune is the other option).
ESPN reported on Monday that Murray isn't expected to be activated off the PUP list by Tuesday's deadline which means he will have to sit out the first four games of the 2023 season (Murray is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered last December).
Dobbs' familiarity with Arizona offensive coordinator Drew Petzing gives the former Vol a massive advantage over Tune.
The former Tennessee standout went 0-2 as a starter last season, but he looked capable while leading a Titans team that was pretty bad offensively last year.
Arizona opens the season against the Washington Commanders. They also play the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and the San Francisco 49ers before Murray will be eligible to return (assuming Arizona keeps Murray on the PUP list).
