Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs never played at UT with offensive lineman Trey Smith, but Dobbs played an important role in bringing Smith to Tennessee.

Dobbs hosted Smith on a recruiting visit just before the quarterback left Tennessee for the NFL.

And despite the fact that his playing days at UT were almost over, Dobbs wanted to make sure that Tennessee secured a commitment from Smith.

So Dobbs decided to do whatever necessary to land a commitment from Smith.

Which meant ordering a lot of pizza.

Josh Dobbs: "I want y'all to know this. Obviously we know Trey — like, he's like no maintenance, right? Doesn't need much to get by. Nothing. Trey comes on his official visit. This is the last week of December of the official visits. So he's the only recruit and our coach is like, yo, we need this kid. We're going into the bowl game season where it's about to be my last game at Tennessee. So I'm about to leave campus. I'm counting my days. Like, I just finished finals. I want to make sure this kid has a good weekend and there's not a soul on campus. Trey comes to my house. We have the football team over. We have the guys over. We're having a grand time. I'm like, 'Trey, what do you need right now to make this a great night?' Trey goes, 'I just need some pizza, man'. So I pick up the phone and go, 'Yo, I got Trey Smith here. We're trying to get him to commit. Y'all want a 5-star commit?. I just need like 12 pizzas at the house. I can't get one only for Trey because we have the whole O-line there so I gotta get everyone a pizza. So they pulled up at like 11:30 and dropped off some pizza. Trey had a great time and committed to Tennessee.
