The Tennessee Vols beat the South Carolina Gamecocks by 21 points last weekend in Knoxville, but the game wasn't necessarily a complete blowout.
Near the end of the third quarter, Tennessee held a 14 point lead with South Carolina driving down the field.
The Gamecocks were in Tennessee territory facing a 2nd-and-2 situation after picking up eight yards on first down.
It looked like South Carolina was on their way to the end zone, which would've made it a one score game entering the fourth quarter.
That's when a defensive sequence happened that Vols head coach Josh Heupel thinks changed the game.
South Carolina ran three plays to pick up two yards and they couldn't get it done because of Tennessee's stingy defensive front.
The fourth down stop gave Tennessee a ton of momentum and they were able to put South Carolina away from there.
Here's the clip of Heupel discussing that sequence on the The Josh Heupel Show after the game.
"Playing on the other side of the line of scrimmage," said Heupel. "It's awesome to see. I just love where our D-Line is going."
There's no doubt that it was an incredible sequence from Tennessee's defense. And like Heupel said, it totally changed the game at that point.
But what makes the sequence even more incredible is that two true freshmen linebackers — Arion Carter and Jeremiah Telander — were on the field for that sequence.
Tennessee's defense is becoming a strength for the Vols. And there's a significant amount of young talent on the roster that could take things to another level in the not-so-distant future.
