Tennessee Vols sophomore wide receiver Squirrel White made one of the best catches of the season on Saturday night in UT's 41-20 win against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

And he made the catch despite obvious defensive pass interference.

As White went to position himself to make the catch on a deep pass from Joe Milton in the first quarter on Saturday night, a South Carolina defender pushed White's helmet toward the ground to try to gain leverage to make the play.

White, somehow, still made the catch.

After the game, White said he had no clue how he made the catch.

"I couldn't even see the ball," said White. "It hit my hands and I just held onto it. It was a hell of a throw."

The missed pass interference call proved to be inconsequential since White made the 50 yard catch. But it's still unbelievable that a flag wasn't thrown (the official still needs to make the correct call there in case White doesn't hold onto the catch or in case the play was overturned on replay).

Vols head coach Josh Heupel discussed the missed call while reviewing the game on The Josh Heupel Show.

"I don't know how there's not PI on that," said Heupel while going over the play with Vol Network's Bob Kesling.

"Just because you're (the defender) looking for the ball doesn't mean you can do anything," added Heupel.

Fortunately for the Vols, White held onto the football and saved Tennessee fans from destroying a few television sets over a missed pass interference call during a critical point in the game.

Tennessee scored two plays later to go up 14-10. The Vols wouldn't relinquish the lead while cruising to their fourth win of the season.
