When the Tennessee Titans selected Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, it set up a potentially awkward living situation for the former Kentucky Wildcats standout.
Levis, who grew up in Connecticut, was universally viewed as a villain by Tennessee Vols fans during his time at Kentucky.
And while not every Vols fan is a Titans fan (and not every Titans fan is a Vols fan), there's enough overlap between the two fan bases that it's understandable why landing in Nashville could've been awkward for Levis.
Fortunately for Levis, it sounds like he hasn't been catching any grief from Tennessee fans in Nashville.
The former three-star recruit recently joined 104.5 The Zone's The Buck Reising Show and he was asked about his interactions with Vols fans.
"Everyone I've encountered has been nice," said Levis. "And I mean, I don't know what it's like on social media or whatever, but everyone that I've met in person, and that I've been able to meet and just fan wise — and a lot of them have been Tennessee (Vols) fans — have been very open or very welcoming and loving. So I mean it's been great. I mean, I'm just gonna go out there and try to make all the supporters of this team as proud as I can with how I play on the field. And that's all I can do."
"Obviously, I'll be a Kentucky guy for life," added Levis. "And with as many Tennessee fans as there are here, it'll be interesting to see how that plays out."
Levis, who played at Penn State before transferring to Kentucky, can win a lot of fans over with his play on the field. Those Vols/Titans fans won't care one bit what uniform he wore in college if he can deliver wins in Nashville. But if he falters, it probably won't be a fun experience in Tennessee for Levis.
