Kentucky Wildcats quarterback Will Levis entered Saturday's matchup against the Tennessee Vols as a player viewed by draft analysts as a potential top-10 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.
By the end of the night, it was reasonable to question if Levis would even be drafted at all.
He will be drafted, of course, but Levis didn't look like a future NFL quarterback against a Tennessee defense that's been heavily criticized all season.
Levis passed for just 98 yards while throwing three interceptions in a 44-6 loss to Tennessee.
After the game, a reporter asked Levis one of the most savage questions I've ever heard.
"The way Tennessee has this thing rolling, does it feel in some ways like you're kind of watching someone else having the season you imagined this was going to be for you all?" asked the reporter.
"Nah, I mean, I don't really care, I'm just going to take one game at a time and keep having the best season we possibly can," said an emotional Levis in response. "It sucks that it's not playing out the way that we had wanted it to. And props to Tennessee, they're a great team and I hope they continue to go and keep playing good football."
That's a tough question in a tough moment (it wasn't really a necessary question in that moment). And despite Levis' rough night on the field, he handled that question extremely well.
We've seen a lot of opposing defenses frustrated after playing the Vols this season. But unlike a couple of Tennessee's other wins this season — the Florida and Alabama games, specifically — Kentucky's offense was at just as much of a loss as the defense after playing the Vols.
This Tennessee team is getting better. And I have a feeling the best is yet to come.
