The Tennessee Titans will face off against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of the regular season. It's no secret that there's plenty of newfound hype regarding both teams from this offseason. Both are expected to contend for their division title. For the Saints, they have a new QB in Derek Carr. For the Titans, they added All-Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins to an offense that needed him.
The Saints were expected to make a couple more intriguing moves this week, though. They were expected to sign RB Kareem Hunt and LB Anthony Barr, if both passed their physicals, this morning. Apparently, a bit of a curveball was thrown the way of New Orleans. Both players left their meetings with the team without a deal. Both Hunt and Barr will visit with other teams as they look for the best deal possible for them.
The Titans may not have to face Hunt or Barr to open the season – as was previous believed. On the flip side, Hunt could be headed to Indianapolis. He reportedly talked to the Colts before even working out for the Saints in New Orleans. They are offering him more money than the Saints would have, according to a source from Russini.
So, the Titans may have gotten let off easier for Week 1. The Saints, without Hunt or Barr, lack depth at two spots where they needed it. That being said, the Titans would have to play Hunt twice this season if he joins the Colts. Both players are still considering their offers from the Saints.
