Vanderbilt Commodores

The Vanderbilt Commodores don't often generate a lot of nationwide social media engagement.

So when they do, it's probably not for a good reason.

That was the case on Tuesday.

Vanderbilt unveiled a new logo via social media and they took a lot of heat for it.

I'm in the minority on this (judging by the replies to that tweet), but I actually don't mind the new logo.

Most replies, however, seemed to throw major shade at the new logo, partially because Vandy constantly changes the logo.

On Tuesday evening, Vanderbilt's basketball team played Xavier in the NIT.

The Commodores fell to the Musketeers 75-73. And Xavier immediately took to Twitter to talk some trash, using the new Vandy logo in the process.

Ouch. That's some good social media work by whoever runs the Xavier Twitter account, by the way.

We'll see how long this logo lasts for the Commodores. Maybe it'll finally turn out to be an "iconic" logo for the SEC program. Or maybe Vanderbilt will change it once again in a couple of years.
