A national sports media outlet says the Tennessee Vols are one of several college football teams that could cause "chaos" in 2022.
247Sports' Brad Crawford picked Tennessee as one of the teams that could shake things up this season.
There's pressure on Tennessee to make it happen this year given the expectancy of a wide open race for the No. 2 slot in the SEC East behind defending national champion Georgia. The Volunteers welcome back the division's top quarterback in Hendon Hooker and wideout Cedric Tillman could be the league's best at season's end. Challenging for a 10-2 type season would mean Tennessee strikes fear in one of the SEC's preseason titans and helps the Volunteers establish national relevancy once again. Lengthy losing streaks against Florida, Georgia and Alabama need to be squashed for that to happen, however.

The likelihood of Tennessee making a surprise College Football Playoff run in 2022 is slim at best. Josh Heupel has the Vols on the right track, but reaching the playoff requires some things Tennessee doesn't have right now — specifically they need more depth.
UT, however, can cause chaos by pulling off a surprise upset — against either Alabama or Georgia. If Tennessee manages to knock one of those teams off, it'll change the entire outlook of the playoff (it could be the difference in the SEC getting just one team in the playoff instead of two).
It's poised to be a fun season for the Vols. This team might not be playing for a national championship in January, but this could still be the best Tennessee team we've seen in over a decade.
