One of the Tennessee Vols' recent 2024 signees received some high praise this weekend for his performance during the Under Armour All-America Game practices.
2024 five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross is the highest rated player in Tennessee's 2024 recruiting class.
Ross, 6-foot-5/233 lbs from Birmingham, AL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 11 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The Alabama native was praised by On3's Charles Power this weekend for his "notable burst", with Power pointing out that Ross looked like the "twitchiest" edge prospect at the Under Armour All-America Game practices.
"The Tennessee signee looked like the twitchiest EDGE prospect on hand going through drills," noted Power. "Ross showed notable burst, exploding out of his stance. In addition to the explosive initial quickness, his smooth, loose movement patters and ankle flexion stood out. We saw the Alabama native make a play off the edge in 11-on-11 work, coming down with a would-be sack."
It's pretty much impossible to win a national championship without elite edge rushers. That's why the addition of Ross is so important for Tennessee.
And the good news for Vols fans is that Tennessee showed this season with the development of edge rusher James Pearce (8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss as a sophomore) that they know how to get the most out of elite pass rushers.
Ross has the potential to be an All-SEC player for the Vols that gives opposing quarterbacks nightmares.
