The Tennessee Vols learned this week who their SEC opponents will be in 2025.

And it's basically the same schedule as the 2024 season.

The SEC is sticking with an eight team schedule in 2025, which means it will be at least 2026 before the league moves to a new nine game conference scheduling format.

(One reason for this decision could be further conference expansion…Clemson is among the programs looking to exit the ACC, for example, so perhaps the SEC wants to wait to see if the conference expands before moving to a new format.)

For the 2025 season, each SEC team will play the same conference schedule that they're playing in 2024. The only difference is that the home/away matchups will be flipped.

Tennessee's 2025 SEC opponents:

  • @ Florida
  • @ Alabama
  • @ Kentucky
  • Mississippi State
  • Oklahoma
  • Georgia
  • Arkansas
  • Vanderbilt

This will obviously be another tough schedule for the Vols, but that's life in the SEC. There's really no such thing as an easy path in college football's best conference.

The most unfortunate aspect of this schedule, however, is that for a second straight year, Tennessee won't get a chance for revenge against the Missouri Tigers.

Missouri beat Tennessee 36-7 in Columbia last season, which led to Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz telling Josh Heupel "we stand on business" during the post-game handshake between the two coaches.

Vols fans have wanted revenge on Drinkwitz and the Tigers since that clip made the rounds on social media last fall.

But unfortunately for Tennessee, it looks like revenge will have to wait until at least the 2026 season. By then, the "we stand on business" comments will be long forgotten by most college football fans. Vols fans, though, keep receipts. And they'll certainly be ready to remind Drinkwitz of what he said in 2023 — especially if the two programs meet in Knoxville.
