The Tennessee Titans have built through the trenches for years. This season, their defensive line is proving that to be true on defense once again.

Even without Harold Landry III, they have gotten impressive play out of their DL. On the interior, Jeffery Simmons and Teair Tart have  been dominant.

National media analysts are even noticing. Simmons has been well-known as a top defensive lineman over the past couple of seasons, but Tart is much more underrated.

The dominance from these two inside makes the jobs for the rest of the Titans' defense much easier. Offenses are being stopped early and often when running the ball inside.

That is allowing the team's linebackers to cheat outside more often when teams attempt to run the ball outside. Plus, the Titans' defense does not have to stack the box quite as often. This gives them more defenders in space against the pass.

It allows star safeties Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker to make more plays over the top as well.

If Tart continues this level of play, the Titans' defense goes to another level. The defensive line was looked at as thin coming into the season, but the depth has performed. Tart headlines that group for the Titans.
