Four former Tennessee Vols were voted by their peers this week as top five players at their respective positions.
The NFLPA had players vote for the top players at each position via a specific set of rules.
Here are those rules:
- Only active NFL players can vote and they get only one vote.
- If a player missed five or more games as of Week 15, then they are ineligible. This is to ensure that we are choosing the best players who had the most impact this season. Being available counts.
- Players cannot vote for themselves or for their own teammates
- Players vote for the position group they play in and line up against.

That's a unique voting process that should make this list carry more weight than the Pro-Bowl voting process.
Anyway, here are the four Vols that were listed as top five players at their positions:
- Cordarrelle Patterson — Kick Returner — No. 1
- Morgan Cox — Long Snapper — No. 1
- Trey Smith — Right Guard — No. 4
- Jakob Johnson — Fullback — No. 4
(Tennessee could have a fifth as Kansas City Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend spent one season at UT before transferring to Florida. Townsend was ranked as the No. 1 punter.)
The Vols haven't had a lot of success in recent years until this past season, but they've sent plenty of players to the NFL. And this list is certainly a reminder of that.
