The team had carried UDFA Trey Wolff and Caleb Shudak at the positon all summer, but waived both of them last week. Then, the team reunited with veteran Michael Badgley, however, that reunion lasted for just one preseason game.
Now, with the cutdown deadline fast approaching, ESPN's Dianna Russini is reporting that the trade market for kickers is "busy."
Russini lists the Titans, Lions, Rams, 49ers, and Broncos as the teams most active in trade discussions.
If the Titans prefer to go the trade route, there are a couple of veteran options who are theoretically available.
Per reports, the Patriots are fielding calls for Nick Folk after rookie Chad Ryland appears to have won the job.
Folk has been in the league since 2007 and has a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume. The kicker has been in New England since 2019 but appears to have been beaten out by Ryland this summer.
Elsewhere, the Saints could also part with their veteran kicker after Will Lutz has been battling with rookie Blake Grupe. Lutz is another rookie with a Pro Bowl appearance and has made 84.6% of his career FG attempts.
Assuming the Titans don't go the trade route, there may be a fine option available as a free agent. Mason Crosby spent 16 years with the Green Bay Packers, cementing himself as one of the most consistent kickers in NFL history. The veteran was not brought back for the 2023 season.
Crosby is an intriguing option due to his residence in nearby Brentwood, Tennessee.
Should the Titans trade for a kicker, or is Crosby a better option?
