NFL roster cut the Titans should consider to help team weakness

It's that time of year when the Tennessee Titans must deliver good or bad news to their players as they cut down from a 90-man roster to just 53 guys.
This is also a good time for Tennessee to look around the league to see if they could benefit from any of the other 31 team's cuts as they perfect their roster.
According to ESPN's Turron Davenport, Tennessee "should look into" adding veteran offensive tackle, Tyre Phillips
Phillips, who spent the last five weeks rehabbing with a quad injury and is now healthy, was released by the New York Giants ahead of the roster cut deadline on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5, 344-pound lineman was a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2020. He was initially drafted as a guard but ended up playing all along the Ravens' line due to injuries. Because of that, it was hard for Phillips to find any consistency as a rookie.
It wasn't until the Ravens released Phillips in 2022 and the Giants picked him up that he found a more permanent home as a solid depth piece behind Evan Neal at right tackle last season.
Titans' Right Tackle Job Up for Grabs
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel named Chris Hubbard as the team's starting right tackle on Monday.
Hubbard was thrown into a starting role after offensive linemen, Nicholas Petit-Frere was suspended for gambling, and Jamarco Jones was released from the team after causing too many fights in practice.
However, Hubbard's starting job is not secure just yet, according to coach Vrabel.
"Just taking it one day at a time," Hubbard said when asked how he's handling being named the starter for now. "Coming in and getting better. That's my main objective. Just coming in and getting better. Not missing a beat."
With questions still looming over the Titans' offensive line, especially at right tackle, Tyre Phillips could help bolster it with not only his size but also, his versatility and starting experience.
Titans O-Line Lacks Consistency
The Titans could use any extra help they could get their hands on as coach Vrabel has made it clear that he is still not too thrilled with how the offensive line has performed this offseason.
"That entire group there's just too much inconsistency," Vrabel said, despite a 23-7 preseason finale win over the Patriots.
Rookie left guard Peter Skoronski showed some flashes of hope and center Aaron Brewer and left tackle Andre Dillard had some nice reps, but it just wasn't enough to please coach Vrabel.
"As we work through some different runs and being able to—some of the stuff that I think we should be able to nail, no matter what it is, we've been running it since May, we've got to be able to get and get going, block it better," Vrabel said. "Some of the new ones, I get, okay maybe see a different look and this happened. I would just say that group in general, like we have to have a great week."
The Titans take on the Saints on Sept. 10.
