Titans football is back! 

The Titans opened the preseason on Saturday, falling to the Chicago Bears 23-17. We got to see the rookies in action for the first time, and one guy, in particular, stood out. 

Anyone who watched the game undoubtedly took notice of rookie running back Tyjae Spears.

Count ESPN's Mina Kimes among those who took notice of Spears.

Kimes mentioned that Spears could be "the lighting to Henry's thunder," which would be a welcome sight. 

With Henry approaching his 30th birthday, the Titans desperately need to find a back who can take some of the load off. Spears had a good start in his first action, ending the day with six carries for 32 yards. Spears also caught one pass for four yards and returned a kick for 22 yards. 

Watching Spears, it was immediately apparent why he's been getting talked about this summer. The back looked explosive and can cut on a dime. Every time he touched the ball, it seemed like it could be a huge gain. It's just one preseason game, but I saw nothing about Spears' knees that seemed limiting. 

The Titans have had a tough time finding a reliable Henry compliment. Darrynton Evans was thought to be that guy, but could never stay healthy and has since bounced around the league. D'Onta Foreman was a great backup, but was a bruiser like Henry, not a speed guy. 

It was a welcomed sign to see a shifty, explosive back in the Titans backfield.
