Folks in Oklahoma are not doing well with Lincoln Riley's decision to leave the Sooners to become the head coach at USC.

And look, I get it. Riley seemed to be settled in for the long haul at Oklahoma. For several years, the feeling was that Riley would only leave Norman for a job in the NFL. That's a move that I think Sooners fans would've understood.

But leaving OU for USC? That one hurts a bit.

Oklahoma state senator Bill Coleman is so perturbed by Riley's decision that he's proposing a three-inch stretch of highway that leaves the state be named after Riley.

“I felt the State of Oklahoma needed an appropriate goodbye to this former head coach whose sudden departure left many in shock, including a team of young, dedicated college players. I found the tiniest section of our most desolate of highways to pay tribute to Coach Riley’s exit from Oklahoma football and the state,” said Coleman in a release on Tuesday.

This is an extremely petty move by a state senator. And I love it. It's what makes college football the best sport in the world. And possibly the most bizarre.

Stay weird college football. We love you for it.
