Earlier this month, former Tennessee Vols star Drew Gilbert suffered an injury during his minor league baseball game. Initial reports were hopeful that it was a minor injury. As more tests occurred, that turned out to not be the case for Gilbert. Unfortunately, he will miss the rest of this season with a dislocated right elbow.

He is expected to make a full recovery before the start of next season. Before his injury, Gilbert had played some good ball at two levels.

In his four games with FCL Astros Orange, Drew Gilbert went 5-for-11 with a home run, four RBIs, and three walks. In six games with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, Gilbert went 5-for-21 with one home run, two RBIs, and one walk.

The injury was certainly a scary one, but it is good news that Gilbert will be back to full strength in time. The former Vols outfielder will look to continue his development in 2023.
