David Poile is the first, and only, General Manager in Predators franchise history. He was tasked with the job of building the team from the ground up. Poile is also the winningest General Manager in NHL history, holding several records for general managers: most career wins, most wins with a single franchise, most career wins (including playoffs), and most wins with a single franchise (including playoffs). Poile also won the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award for the 2016-17 season.

According to Friedman, Poile is expected to stay on in an advisory role. However, speculation has a familiar face taking over after Poile retires:

Barry Trotz amassed 914 wins as a head coach (557 with Nashville) and went on to win a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018. Most interestingly, Trotz is believed to be starting work immediately as the General Manager in an unofficial capacity. It will be interesting to see the way the rest of the season plays out (especially leading up to the trade deadline) with Trotz making decisions.
