South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer has some beef with an SEC coach or two.

And everyone on the internet is trying to figure out who he's talking about.

Beamer appeared on the popular "Bussin with the Boys" podcast recently and he was asked by one of the show's hosts, free agent NFL offensive lineman Taylor Lewan, if there are any SEC coaches that he'd want to fight and who he thinks he could beat in a fight.

Beamer told Lewan and Will Compton that there are a couple of SEC coaches he wouldn't mind fighting. And he suggested that he'd be able to hold his own against any coach in the SEC.

There's one coach in particular, however, that Beamer seems to specifically have an issue with. And it's a coach that's on South Carolina's schedule in 2023.

"My wife and I literally just had that conversation (about running the score up on a team) this morning about a team in the SEC that goes back to who I'd want to fight right now as well," said Beamer. "There's one in particular right now that I'm not really high on."

So who is Beamer talking about?

Well, here are the SEC teams on South Carolina's schedule in 2023:

  • Georgia
  • Mississippi State
  • Tennessee
  • Florida
  • Missouri
  • Texas A&M
  • Vanderbilt
  • Kentucky

Off the top, we can probably rule out a couple of coaches. I don't think it's Kirby Smart at Georgia. Beamer has worked with Smart in the past and he's spoken highly of the Bulldogs' head coach.

We can also rule out Mississippi State's Zach Arnett, who hasn't really crossed paths with Beamer. Vanderbilt's Clark Lea should also probably be ruled out — Lea is as classy as it gets.

That leaves Billy Napier at Florida, Josh Heupel at Tennessee, Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, Eliah Drinkwitz at Missouri, and Mark Stoops at Kentucky.

I doubt it's Heupel as he hasn't said anything negative about Beamer publicly. Though if you recall, Beamer made some gestures toward Tennessee's sideline after the Gmaecocks' final touchdown in South Carolina's 63-38 win over the Vols last season.

It could be Fisher — it seems like everyone has an issue with that guy these days. But I don't think there's been any back and forth between Beamer and Fisher.

If it's Napier, then it likely has to do with a recruiting battle or something that isn't public. That leaves Drinkwitz and Stoops.

I could see it being Drinkwitz since he likes to ruffle feathers from time to time, but I'm going to say it's Stoops. After all, he threw some shade at Beamer last season when he referenced wearing sunglasses and dancing in a video.

“It’s easy to change a climate. You know, you just change a uniform, talk a little game, dance around, put on some stupid sunglasses and you can change a climate, but to change a culture, it’s at the core,” said Stoops ahead of the 2022 season.

Those comments from Stoops came not long after this video from Beamer.

Maybe Beamer really wants to fight Stoops. Or maybe he's just playing it up for the camera.

Either way, there should be no shortage of drama in the SEC in 2023.
