Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel asked UT fans to be as loud as ever on Saturday night for the game against the South Carolina Gamecocks and the fans were up to the challenge.

"Our fans were what I expected and were an impact on the football game," said Heupel after the win. "I said earlier in the week that they needed to be a part of this football game, and they were today. Thank you to them, from Vol Walk to warmups, most of the stadium was full with 40 minutes to go, and then all night long they were relentless in their effort and energy, too."

Part of that energy was the chirping that was directed at South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler.

After the game, Rattler was asked about hearing it from Tennessee fans all night.

"Great environment," said Rattler. "I must be doing something right if they keep saying that the whole night. Like I say, If you ain’t got haters, you ain’t poppin."

Rattler, not content to leave it at that, added that beating South Carolina was like Tennessee’s Super Bowl.

I guess Rattler missed Tennessee’s win against Alabama last season. The celebration after beating South Carolina was nothing compared to the celebration after beating Bama.

South Carolina's environment for the Gamecocks' win against Tennessee last season was incredible. On Saturday night, Vols fans repaid the favor. And it was clearly important as it felt like South Carolina's offensive line struggled to communicate all night.

Tennessee's home crowd is one of the best home field advantages in sports. And Saturday night showed why.
