Tennessee Baseball started the weekend off with some great news.

2024 OF/1B Lucas Ramirez, the son of 12-time MLB All-Star Manny Ramirez, committed to the Vols late Friday night.

Ramirez, a left-handed batter who throws right-handed, is a 6-foot-3 prospect who currently attends American Heritage in Florida.

Here's the scouting report on Ramirez from Perfect Game:

Lucas Ramirez is a 2024 OF/1B with a 6-3 194 lb. frame from Weston, FL who attends American Heritage. Big and strong athletic build with some projection remaining. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a big pull back load, gets his hips turned to start his swing, lifting swing with very good bat speed, plus raw power, ball comes off the barrel hard, has hitterish actions in the box. Left field/first base actions and athleticism on defense, has good footwork and takes good routes in the outfield, loose and easy arm action. Bat is his tool and it has a chance to be a good one. Good student. Named to the PG Underclass All-American Games Top Prospect List.

This is obviously a great addition for Tennessee. But, as is always the case with baseball commits, the Vols will have to hope that Ramirez isn't drafted early by an MLB team.

However, even if Ramirez is drafted early and never plays for the Vols, this is still great for Tennessee baseball. Simply having Manny Ramirez's son commit to the Vols will turn some heads in the baseball world.
