Gilbert's game-winning walk off grand slam against Wright State in the 2021 NCAA tournament is a moment that Vols fans will never forget.
On Monday night, Gilbert, who currently plays for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (the New York Mets' Double-A farm team…Gilbert was traded to the Mets from the Houston Astros earlier this summer), hit a game-tying three-run home run in the first game of the Eastern League Championship series.
Classic Drew.
Gilbert wasn't the only former Vol on the field for the Rumble Ponies on Monday night by the way.
Former Tennessee right handed pitcher Blade Tidwell received the start for Binghamton.
Additionally, Jett Williams, an outfielder/shortstop for the Rumble Ponies, was committed to Mississippi State before getting selected by the Mets. But he took a visit to Tennessee while Gilbert and Tidwell were playing for the Vols.

It's been a rough go for Mets fans this season, but they have some nice young talent (Ronald Acuna Jr's little brother also plays for the Rumble Ponies) that should be ready to make an impact at the MLB level in the not-so-distant future.
