Former Red Sox player smoked Nick Saban's 2022 victory cigars after Tennessee loss

Tennessee fans had waited long enough, and they weren't going to wait one second longer. The cigar smoke wafted up from the playing field, forming a haze above the thousands of orange-clad Volunteer fans reveling in the bliss of the Vols' 52-49 win over the Crimson Tide last year.
After all, it had been 16 years since Vol fans had smoked one in celebration on the third Saturday in October. And CBS knew it.
Sideline reporter Jenny Dell handed Josh Heupel an orange and white box of cigars after the game. As it turns out that wasn't the only box they had on hand.
Per KnoxNews.com, Dell had a box of cigars for Nick Saban as well in the event the Crimson Tide had prevailed. She bought two boxes: one in orange for Tennessee and one in crimson for Alabama.
So what happened with that unused box of cigars? They ended up going back home with her. As it happens, Dell is married to former Boston Red Sox infielder and current Red Sox television analyst Will Middlebrooks, to whom she gave them. According to Dell, there are still four remaining that he hasn't smoked.
Saban isn't a big cigar smoker. In fact, he's not a smoker at all, even when his team manages to win one of its biggest games of the year. However, the thought of the item he would have enjoyed with his team – he's admitted he has it in his mouth and chews on it while everyone else smokes – in the mouth of a former baseball player is kind of amusing.
Oh, and Middlebrooks was a Texas A&M commit before ending up in Major League Baseball instead, so he probably took some extra pleasure while puffing away after the game.
Just like Vol fans across the country did.
