Back in August, it looked like former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs was going to be a backup quarterback at best this season.

Instead, Dobbs has started 9 of the 10 games in which he's played (for two different teams, the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings).

And the one game that Dobbs didn't start, the Vikings' wild win against the Atlanta Falcons, was only because he had been on Minnesota's roster for just a couple days. Dobbs played most of that game after Jaren Hall left due to injury.

Right now, Dobbs is on a roll. And he appears to be locked in as the Vikings' starter for the rest of the reason (which is huge because Minnesota is pushing for a playoff spot).

CBS Sports' latest NFL power rankings gave Dobbs plenty of love, ranking the former Vol as the No. 15 quarterback in the NFL.

From CBS Sports: Everyone's new favorite player in Minnesota, Dobbs is benefiting from Brian Flores' persistent defense. But man does he bring juice as Kevin O'Connell's emergency signal-caller, not only with timely touch but underrated speed. Not a single QB has more games with at least 40 rushing yards this year, and he's already produced five TDs since arriving.

Dobbs will get his next start for the Vikings in front of a national audience as Minnesota is set to take on the Denver Broncos on NBC's Sunday Night Football this week.
