Life comes at you fast.  That's especially the case in the NFL.

Former Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs, who was just announced as the backup quarterback to Deshaun Watson in Cleveland today, is reportedly being traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

The move isn't totally shocking from a roster standpoint, as the Browns are obviously content with UCLA rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson as their backup, who has shined in the preseason so far.  It will allow them to carry two QBs and thus free up an extra roster spot for another position by trading away Dobbs.  It is shocking for the fact they named him QB2 today, then proceeded to ship him out of town.

Regardless, it might actually be a good thing for the former Tennessee QB.  While he was highly unlikely to see the field in Cleveland barring injury, that's not as much the case in Arizona – at least right now.  The Cardinals presumably are making this move because their QB situation is rather unsettled.  That's largely in part because franchise QB Kyler Murray is still working his way back from an ACL tear that he suffered last December.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals QB room consists of Colt McCoy, Jeff Driskel, Clayton Tune, and David Blough.  As such, it's not hard to see why the Cardinals went in search of a veteran QB like Dobbs with experience that could help bridge the gap until Murray is back.

Accordingly, there could be a legitimate opportunity for Dobbs to see the field early in the season for the Cardinals.  Colt McCoy, as of two days ago, had not been named the starter for the Cardinals, which was interesting given his prior experience both in the league and starting in place of Murray.

Regardless, Dobbs is heading to a situation where, for the moment, he should be no worse than QB2 on the roster, with a better chance to start than he had in Cleveland.  Sometimes things just work out.
