The Tennessee Titans and general manager Ran Carthon have done a great job this offseason executing a complete overhaul of the roster.

The secondary looks deeper than ever. The wide receiver trio may be the best the franchise has ever seen. And the left side of the newly revamped offensive line is already good to go for 2024. However, one key area that's still an "unknown" coming out of OTAs and minicamp is the right side of the offensive line.

Titans add new layer to OL competition

Both the Titans right guard and right tackle positions are still up for grabs at the moment, even though there may already be a favorite or two to win each starting role.

Saahdiq Charles reportedly has the lead for right guard in a battle with Dillon Radunz and a couple other players. The right tackle spot is the one that faces the most uncertainty. Nicholas Petit-Frere and Jaelyn Duncan missed significant time this spring, but both figure to be in the mix. A couple other names are competing there too, but most are inexperienced. So it wasn't a surprise when on Wednesday the competition at right tackle became even more complex as the Titans signed free agent offensive tackle Geron Christian.

Geron Christian started the final 10 games for the Cleveland Browns in 2023, logging over 700 snaps at left tackle. The Titans' new offensive line coach Bill Callahan was in Cleveland just last year when the Browns signed Christian in the middle of the season, so there's real familiarity there already.

Christian obviously won't compete to start at left tackle with new first round pick JC Latham locked in there. However, he could immediately provide depth behind Latham and potentially compete for the right tackle spot. Christian has logged nearly 2000 total snaps at offensive tackle in just shy of 60 career NFL games, so his experience will likely come in handy at some point this fall for the Titans.

Christian will need to hit the ground running once training camp starts, but his familiarity with coach Callahan's offensive line communication, veteran experience, and prototypical tackle size at 6'5" 320 pounds should allow him to bring value to the team immediately.
