Running back Derrick Henry, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, and long snapper Morgan Cox were the three Tennessee Titans players selected to the Pro Bowl on Wednesday night.
This is the third career selection for Henry (2019,2020, 2022), second for Simmons (2021, 2022), and fifth for Cox (2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2022).
At age 28, Henry is still the NFL's second leading rusher, amassing 1,303 rushing yards in 14 games this season. With 7.5 sacks on the year, Simmons is closing in on a career high while simultaneously being the heartbeat of the Titans' defensive front. Cox is the model of consistency on special teams, and he's finally earned his first Pro Bowl selection with the Titans after earning four nods with the Baltimore Ravens over the years.
A few other Titans teammates may also wind up at the Pro Bowl in Las Vegas when everything gets settled. Four other Titans players are alternates for the AFC roster. Those players are center Ben Jones, punter Ryan Stonehouse, safety Kevin Byard, and linebacker Dylan Cole, who is a special teams alternate.
Alternates may fill in for any original roster selection that does not make the trip. That could be for personal reasons, injury reasons, or because the player's team is playing in the Super Bowl the following week. Jones, Stonehouse, Byard, and Cole are all highly deserving candidates to join their teammates should they be called upon.
