The Tennessee Vols beat the Florida Gators 8-5 on Sunday afternoon to claim their first SEC Tournament championship since 1995.

Tennessee's win against Florida comes just a little over two months after beating Texas A&M to win the SEC basketball Tournament.

The Vols women's soccer team also won an SEC Tournament championship this past season.

As a result of Tennessee baseball's SEC Tournament win, UT is the first program to ever win baseball, basketball, and women's soccer tournament championships in the same year.

Tennessee athletics are clearly on the rise right now.

It's no coincidence that the Vols are experiencing a great deal of athletic success over the last year. Tennessee hired Danny White in January 2021 to serve as the program's athletic director.

The vibe on Rocky Top has been different since White's arrival. While he didn't hire Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello or Vols basketball coach Rick Barnes, White's created an atmosphere where success is expected. And everyone is on the same page.

Will the Vols' recent athletic success extend to football? It's impossible to know for sure. But with White leading the charge, it feels like Tennessee football's return to glory is inevitable at this point.

An SEC Championship might be too much to ask for this season. But then again, after what we've seen the last year from Tennessee athletics, I wouldn't be shocked if the Vols football program goes on a memorable run in 2022.
