Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh is a name that's picking up steam in the Cincinnati Bearcats head coaching search.

Football Scoop's John Brice said during an appearance on 104.5 The Zone's Blaine and Mickey on Thursday that he's starting to hear Golesh's name more in that search over the last 72 hours.

Brice pointed out that Golesh has deep ties to the state of Ohio (Golesh grew up in Ohio and went to Ohio State). He also noted that high school coaches in Ohio have said they'd love to see Golesh at Cincinnati.

It's been assumed that Golesh will be a head coach sooner rather than later. The hope has been that he'll be in Knoxville for at least one more season. The Cincinnati job, however, might be too tempting for Golesh to pass on (if he's offered the job).

If Golesh leaves the Vols this offseason to become a head coach, I'd look for quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle to be promoted to offensive coordinator.
