The Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Florida State Seminoles 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon to reach the College World Series championship round for the first time since 1951.

As it turns out, the final nail from the Vols in the Noles' coffin turned out to be a pretty special one.

With the Vols leading 6-2 in the top of the ninth inning, Blake Burke went down and golfed a slider deep over the wall in right center.  In doing so, Burke notched his 20th home run of the season for the Vols.

Why does that matter?  That marked the first time in NCAA history for a team to have five players with at least 20 home runs in a season.

Burke joined Christian Moore (33), Billy Amick (23), Kavares Tears (20), and Dylan Dreiling (20) in the 20 home run club this year for the Vols.

But hey, what else would you expect from the Vols this season?  The Vols currently lead the NCAA by a huge margin in team home runs.  With 178 long balls, the Vols sit a staggering 27 home runs ahead of second-place Georgia.

Tennessee also still has an outside chance of setting the all-time home run mark in college baseball history.  They trail the 1997 LSU Tigers, who set the record with 188 round trippers.  It seems tough for the Vols to reach that if the championship series only goes two games.  They'd certainly have a shot if the series goes three.

But at this point, can you count out the Vols from doing anything on the baseball field?  Not the way this quintet of sluggers has been swinging the bat this season.
