Tennessee Vols redshirt senior wide receiver Bru McCoy suffered a devastating season-ending ankle injury in the first half of UT's 41-20 win against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday night in Knoxville. 

According to a statement from Tennessee, McCoy underwent surgery on Sunday morning after suffering a fracture-dislocation of his right ankle. 

Bru McCoy underwent successful surgery this morning after suffering a fracture-dislocation of his right ankle on Saturday night. Bru and his family appreciate all of your prayers and support since last night and in the davs ahead. Bru has displayed unwavering toughness, character and leadership as a Vol on and off the field, and he now begins the road to recovery determined to make this just a minor setback on his football journey. On Sunday night, McCoy sent a message to fans/friends/teammates via Instagram. 

"I want to thank every single individual who has taken the time to check in on me, share words of encouragement, or simply show their support," wrote McCoy. "It means the world to me. I'll be back, stronger, healthier, and more hungry than ever. Till then Go Damn Vols."

McCoy has one year of eligibility remaining, though it's far too early to think about what the California native has planned for 2024. For now, it's all about recovery for McCoy.
